This is a unique opportunity to join our Library Services team, based at our Central Library at College Green. We’re looking for someone with demonstrable experience of working in a management capacity in public libraries, or demonstrable experience in an ICT management capacity in a non-library context.

You will be responsible for planning and managing the strategic and technical development of ICT in the Library Service in liaison with the Library Management Team and corporate ICT.  You will also be responsible for the day-to-day operation and support of library-based technology systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To formulate and recommend changes in library IT support systems which contribute to the continuous improvement in services, leading on projects and contributing to cross-service staff project groups on IT related issues
  • To ensure that the day-to-day operational management of library service IT systems effectively supports front-line service needs
  • To have a service-wide co-ordinating role for advising on feasibility, project implementation and potential resources, working with the Library Management Team to deliver solutions
  • To develop practical working relationships with colleagues in other authorities (LibrariesWest Consortium of 7 authorities), developing partnership projects where these will enhance library service provision, and emulating best practice to enable more efficient and effective use of resources

We’re looking for someone with demonstrable experience of working in a management capacity in public libraries, or demonstrable experience in an ICT management capacity in a non-library context.  It is essential that you have an up-to-date detailed knowledge and understanding of key technological issues which affect the delivery of a modern public library service.  You will require proven technical knowledge in the use of Windows and Unix, and in the application of networking technologies of Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol.
