We are looking for cycle instructors to join our team. Ideally you’ll be an experienced national standards qualified instructor but training will be provided for keen cyclists with the right skills and experience.

Bristol City Council has a team of cycle instructors delivering Bikeability cycle training, promoting cycling and providing inclusive cycling activities throughout the city. Training and Cycling Activities take place in all weathers, every day of the week, all year round including:

  • Schools courses for children and young people age 4-19 at Bristol schools
    (term time Mon-Fri 9am-3pm).
  • Inclusive cycling courses for adults and children, some with disabilities, using specialist and regular cycles at BCC’s Family Cycling Centre in Hengrove
(all year Mon-Sun during daylight hours).
  • Individual training sessions for adults, families and young people
    (all year Mon-Sun between 7am and 8pm).
  • Holiday and after school courses and activities
(school holidays 9am-5pm, after school 3-5pm, evenings 6-9pm).
  • Community cycling activities and rides
(all year, hours depending on event).

We have 2 post types available:
- Working in Schools delivering Bikeability courses.  Mainly Monday – Friday, term time only with occasional cover required for weekend or holiday work. Flexible availability required for a minimum of 3, preferably 5 days per week. Must be able to work Mon/Wed/Fri and/or Tue/Thur/Fri.
- Working at the Family Cycling Centre in Hengrove delivering various cycling sessions. 7 days per week, all year round including evenings in the summer months. Flexible availability required for a minimum of 3, preferably 5 days per week to include weekends (all year) and evenings (summer months) on a rota basis. Ideally candidates will be able to work Thur, Fri & Sat or weekends only.

Both post types are casual contracts. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours each week but there are flexible opportunities for additional hours, especially at busy times. It is possible to combine both post types and you are welcome to apply for both.
