Training And Development

We invest in the training and development of all our employees to maintain and improve the quality of the services we provide and meet our long-term organisational objectives. As proof of that, we have been awarded Investors in People status and remain committed to its principles.

Effective employee development is essential if we are to meet the continuously changing needs and expectations of local people, fairly and efficiently. As an employee of Bristol City Council you would have the right to agree clear and specific objectives and expectations with your manager, and to receive honest and constructive feedback on your performance, with further development if required. This is done through our Performance Management and Development Scheme (PMDS). As part of this process, identified development needs, driven by business objectives, are addressed using a range of development solutions with every employee being entitled to at least 40 hours development time a year.
